Covid-19 wage payments in dispute
The Tramways Union has serious concerns that Tranzurban did not pay paid drivers in accordance with the expectations of NZTA during the Covid-19 lockdown.
We raised the matter directly with Tranzurban on 1 June 2020 and after receiving no response we escalated our concerns to Transport Minister Phil Twyford, NZTA and GWRC. Subsequently, Tranzurban has indicated that they are undertaking an audit of the payments made. We have also alerted the Auditor General.
The Union's emails and Tranzurban's response are below. We have included the memo evidencing NZTA's expectation on how your payments should have been calculated and the Auditor General's response to the use of public funds.
Check back here regularly as we will update this page as developments occur.
